Approval process

Certifying a piece of furniture with Möbelfakta shows that it is of high quality, good for the environment and manufactured responsibly. This is done in four steps: application, declaration, review and approval.

Application

Register your company with Möbelfakta to begin the process. We will contact you with guidance and information about the next steps.

2.

Declaration

Collect documentation showing that your products meet Möbelfakta's requirements for quality, the environment and responsible supply chains. Training of declarants is mandatory.

3.

Review

You register for one of Möbelfakta's review rounds, which is where the approval process begins. An independent auditor reviews your documentation.

4.

Approval

Once the product has been approved, you may publish it in the Möbelfakta database and use the certification in your marketing. You can declare more products in a simplified process.

Certifying your products with Möbelfakta is a clear way to show that they meet high standards for quality, the environment and social responsibility. Here we guide you through the process – step by step.

Möbelfakta is a broader sustainability label compared to many other labels. Start by familiarizing yourself with Möbelfakta's three requirement areas.

  1. Quality – according to current standards and requirements for furniture.
  2. Environment – ​​requirements for materials, chemical content and environmental impact.
  3. Responsible supply chains – requirements for responsibility in the supply chain (according to the principles of the UN Global Compact).

For each product to be Möbelfakta-labeled, you need to collect all documentation that shows that the requirements are met. Examples of documents:

  • Test report from accredited testing according to applicable furniture standards
  • Subcontractor certificate
  • Safety data sheet
  • Policy documents and due diligence processes for social responsibility

We offer training and have guidelines and templates to help you produce the right documentation.

Before you can label your products with Möbelfakta, the documentation must be reviewed by an independent auditor.

The review process is divided into the following two steps:

  • Step 1: Follow-up of compliance with requirements for Part 1 (Quality requirements) and Part 2 (Environmental requirements)
  • Step 2: Follow-up of compliance with requirements for Part 3 Responsible supply chains - this step includes on-site visits.

Once the review is approved, the product is published and you receive your certificate. You can then start using Möbelfakta together with the product in your marketing. You also get access to Möbelfakta's database where you can register more products that are reviewed by us before they are approved.
