Updated criteria July 1, 2025
On July 1, 2025, Möbelfakta will implement its next update of the requirements specification for furniture. This update incorporates the latest European standards to ensure the highest levels of safety, strength, durability, and stability across various types of furniture, especially those used in public and domestic environments.
Key standards introduced in this update include:
• EN 16121:2024
Non-domestic storage furniture – Requirements for safety, strength, durability and stability.
(Tests according to the 2013+A1:2018 version are accepted until 2027-12-31.)
• EN 15372:2024
Furniture – Strength, durability and safety – Requirements for non-domestic tables.
(Earlier 2016 version accepted until 2027-12-31.)
• EN 14434:2023
Writing boards for educational institutions – Ergonomic, technical and safety requirements and test methods.
• EN 747-1:2024
Furniture – Bunk beds and high beds – Part 1: Safety, strength and durability requirements.
• EN 14988:2017+A2:2024
Children’s high chairs – Part 1: Safety requirements.
(Previous versions accepted until 2025-12-31.)
The transition period to meet new requirements in 2.2.1 and 2.2.4 is until 2026-07-01.
In addition to new standards, version 17.1 introduces requirements for manufacturing outside of Europe, which must now be verified through third-party audits, as Möbelfakta does not conduct physical inspections outside Europe.
Further updates have been made to environmental requirements regarding circular product requirement that include instructions for repair, disassembly and reassembly, including the removal of some redundant or overlapping demands.
Möbelfakta continues to ensure that labeled furniture upholds strong performance across quality, environmental, and social responsibility.
