New requirements launched April 1
Möbelfakta's requirements for responsible supply chains ensure that furniture is produced under good working conditions and with respect for human rights – regardless of where in the world the production takes place. The requirements are based on international frameworks, apply to both the manufacturer and its subcontractors and require systematic work.
On April 1, Möbelfakta will launch an updated requirement specification for responsible supply chains (Requirement Specification Part 3). The update affects all companies that certify products in Möbelfakta and aims to ensure that the label continues to meet the expectations of the market and purchasers. On this page you will find all information regarding the update.

Why are the requirements being updated now?
The update is intended to ensure that Möbelfakta will continue to provide the greatest possible value and support for furniture companies in public procurement and to be a label with high credibility.
The requirements will be published in mid-March and will apply from April 1st with a transition period of 6 months. This means that all declared products must meet the requirements by October 1st, 2026.
How have the new requirements been developed?
The work is based on an external analysis of procurement requirements and their application. Möbelfakta shows how due diligence can become concrete, proportionate requirements with a focus on a risk-based approach.
The new requirements are largely based on the current Möbelfakta requirements, but with increased structure and clarity for the most important ones, consisting of:
- a more harmonized language, in line with how procurement authorities and other demanders formulate due diligence requirements
- a clear risk-based focus, with prioritization of risky suppliers
- clarifies the requirements for dialogue with rights holders, sustainable purchasing and procedures for complaint mechanisms and remedy.
Support for implementation
To facilitate the work with the new requirements, Möbelfakta offers:
- Supporting documents: guidance and templates
- Digital information meetings
- Risk analysis training
At the end of March, a link to guidance and templates will be sent to all registered declarants.
The risk analysis training is mandatory for companies that join Möbelfakta. With the launch of the updated requirements, we are offering it at a discounted price for already affiliated companies that have not yet participated or that want to take it again.
